The selected candidate will, as a Team Lead, lead a team of engineers and technicians responsible for the deployment/recovery of undersea cable fiber optic communications systems. The candidate will support the design, development, and testing of systems and subsystems that are typically used to support the "at sea" deployment and recovery efforts for DoD and Commercial subsea communications systems. Specific responsibilities include the following:- Performs as operational deployment team lead during design and development of subsea fiber optic cable systems.- Formulates operational concepts, performs mission and functional analyses, conducts requirements and information analysis, cost-benefit analysis, system trade studies, and risk analyses. - Performs as "at sea" system deployment Engineer In Charge (EIC)during development sea trial testing efforts and operational deployments or servicing missions.- Directs and coordinates deployment team technical efforts and logistics in preparation for system sea trial tests, operational deployments and/or service and repair missions, to include: * Identifying and coordinating platform requirements * Specifying system operational and repair Concept of Operations (CONOPS) * Specifying system level requirements and interfaces to support deployment/repair or recovery operations. * Supports subsea cable system lay route planning and design. * Specifies and supports the design and/or procurement of "at sea" test, deployment and recovery equipment. * Specifies and coordinates support personnel requirements and skills * Develops detailed plans for installation and/or servicing (e.g. fault repair) operations. * Performs and coordinates deployment/servicing team efforts toward meeting program cost/schedule and budget objectives without appreciable direction or oversight. * Support Design and development Integration and Test (I&T) activities leading up to mission deployment. In performance of the primary duties the candidate will also support the following:- Interact and coordinates deployment efforts with internal development and support organizations. - Support the Systems Engineering Integration Team (SEIT) as a core member- Support frequent communications with the customer and GDAIS management- Lead deployment engineering trade studies and support IPT design and development efforts. - Participate in design reviews, give technical presentations, and write technical reports to provide status, test or mission results, and solutions to customers. Preference will be given to candidates that have Naval Deployment and leadership experience in the design, build, test and deployment of complex marine and/or subsea mechanical and cable deployment Requirements:
This position typically requires a bachelora??s degree in Mechanical or Ocean Engineering or similar area or field, and 8 a?? 10 years of related experience; or mastera??s degree and 6 a?? 8 years of related experience. Related work experience includes: systems engineering and leading "at sea" installations/repair operations of subsea mechanical equipment and/or communications systems. The selected candidate will have excellent oral and written communications skills, and experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully team with multiple internal and external stakeholders and lead an installation/recovery team to meet program objectives. The candidate will have a proven track record managing teams that provide solutions to highly complex problems and that require significant ingenuity, innovation and creativity toward getting tasks completed. Due to the nature of work performed at our facilities, U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance is required.
