Title: Laboratory Systems Administrator Location: North America-USA-Louisiana-Luling Accountability
The Laboratory Systems Administrator (LSA) is a global role and will report directly to the Laboratory Supervisor and will work closely with all laboratory technicians, chemists and IT personnel. When required, the LSA will also interface directly with analytical and manufacturing personnel from across global Monsanto.
Scope of Responsibilities
The LSA should have a working knowledge of analytical instrumentation utilized in the verification of chemical components in raw material, in process and finished products. Responsibilities include a comprehensive understanding of the computer applications used to run the lab instrumentation with a clear aptitude to learn new ones. The candidate should have at least five years industry job experience. The LSA is an important liaison between production areas and the central laboratory and also in helping to ensure the laboratory does not cause disruption to process operations. A basic responsibility as liaison between these operations and the lab is creation, use, and monitoring of Key-Performance-Indicators (KPI's).
Demonstration of experience in delivering responsive service to a diverse and demanding customer base is required. The LSA should have a good understanding of CDS/LIMS based software, current operating systems, network concepts, data management principles and understand requirements for locally and remotely supported applications.
Experience in working in an environment with defined procedures for problem and change management is needed. Good communication and documentation skills are essential as the nature of this position will be to communicate effectively across a large organization. The LSM should demonstrate the ability to work closely with other sectors of the company in accomplishing the above objectives.
Job Description
The LSA will provide laboratory computer information and application support for communications systems. This position will integrate laboratory instruments to bench-top computers and attach to user networks. The candidate will be responsible for establishing communications, data retention, documentation of operations, and disaster recovery for lab information systems. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues are required. Other job requirements include but are not limited to:
· Maintain efficient operations of CDS System · Maintain efficient operations of LIMS System · Maintain Beckman Legacy Data for 5 years · Maintain SAP Quality Module · Provide user-friendly reporting capabilities · Setup and maintain SPC functionality · Minimize systems downtime · Provide for off hours support · Provide validation for new software versions or changes in hardware if necessary · Maintain workstation setups and configuration support · Maintain necessary documentation for auditing purposes · Systems training · Strive to utilize maximum system capabilities · Maintain Testing Environment · Work with IT on maintaining systems and upgrades · Collaborate with other Luling Data Systems (Kingcake, Delta V etc.)
Work Environment
· There will be times when this position requires large blocks of time to fulfill business critical issues. Flexibility with this type of fluid schedule is required. · Occasional travel within the United States and infrequent travel outside of the United States is required.
