About Area:
Job Responsibility:Under the direction and guidance of the Manager of the Electronics Lab or Production supervisor, the Lab Technician lays out, builds, tests, troubleshoots, repairs and modifies developmental and production mechanical, electronic and fiber optic components, parts, equipment and systems. Primary focus is in the areas of signal conditioning electronics, network based telemetry systems, electronic instrumentation, test equipment, etc. Reads work instructions, engineering drawings, sketches, and test procedures to determine assembly and test methods for electrical, fiber optic and mechanical components.
Job Requirements:Candidates desired with Electro-Mechanical and Fiber Optic Assembly.
1. Assemble electronic and/or optical and mechanical assemblies according to engineering instructions, drawings, sketches, and technical manuals.
2. Assemble printed wiring boards and wire and/or fiber optic harnesses from engineering drawings and sketches using surface mount hardware, soldering iron, fusion splicer and microscope.
3. Connect wiring to accessories such as connectors, circuit breakers, plugs, and switches and install accessory assemblies in electrical or electronic systems and components
4. Conducts functional and continuity tests of electrical and optical assemblies, components, and harnesses using ohmmeters, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment.
5. Recommend changes in test procedures and test specifications to improve performance and functional testing of production or prototype components.
6. Set up standard test apparatus or devises test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model per test procedures.
7. Assist engineers in troubleshooting of failed production or prototype components under their direction and guidance.
8. Operate bench tools to modify parts, such as printed wiring boards or assemblies and chassis, etc.
9. Pot or encapsulate electrical/optical components and assemblies in accordance with procedures.
10. Draw on expertise from Engineers, where needed, to assist with relevant parts of the project.
11. Responsible for following product assembly / fabrication procedures, equipment operation and sound safety practices as documented in the company's quality system manual.
12. Promote cordial relationships and foster and maintain a favorable business profile with current and prospective customers, vendors, co-workers and other professionals.
