Current USMC TTD&S engineering experience is a plus. Must have a demonstrated ability to apply expert engineering practices and procedures within the systems acquisition and development structures of the Marine Corps, provide engineering and technical direction to subordinate staff, provide professional findings of engineering and technical analysis in the form of reports and presentations, and to lead, facilitate or execute complex engineering and technical tasks. Must have excellent writing skills, communication skills and strong verbal and interpersonal skills; as daily interaction with all levels of management will be required. Must possess an understanding of military acquisition and fielding processes. Selected candidate should be a self-starter and able to work well independently with minimal supervision and broad direction. Must have the ability to work in a small, fast-paced organization; which will support TTD&S managers and analysts. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required. Progressive engineering / technical experience with program acquisition life-cycle logistics management in support of the acquisition of USMC TTD&S is preferred.
Job Description: URS is seeking senior level Marine Corps Hardware and Software Design, Systems Engineering and Systems Integration Engineers to support the development and fielding of multiple Marine Corps Training, Training Device and Simulator (TTD&S) Programs in Orlando, FL.
The selected candidate(s) will be providing subject matter expertise in solving complex engineering and technical challenges in the analysis, design, development and testing of TTD&S electrical/ electronic hardware, system architecture, and power suites. The position requires demonstrated expert knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, power and software systems research, analysis, and design to serve as a senior level Hardware, Software or Electrical / Systems Engineer for a wide range of technologies and applications. Demonstrated ability to plan, design, oversee, monitor, and evaluate complex hardware, software, electrical / electronic, software engineering programs and projects to generate new hypotheses and new concepts of application for TTD&S. Demonstrated knowledge in hardware, software, electrical, electronic, systems, and power systems design, development, modeling and simulation, analysis, test and evaluation, integration, verification, manufacturing, production, quality assurance, and configuration management. Duties also include requirements and specifications analysis, systems requirements definition, architecture design / review, technology demonstration, and prototype design. The position requires broad experience in researching structures and activation systems, data buses, power distribution, Line-Replaceable Unit (LRU) selection, and hardware systems analysis / design utilizing various emerging technologies and control circuit design techniques. Experienced in reviewing systems / subsystems design, integration, and testing activities, participating in Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), Decision Analysis and Resolution (DAR), Over-arching Integrated Product Team (O-IPT), and team discussions associated with utilization, performance, cost, schedule, quality, and systems / hardware implementation to mitigate problems associated with requirements analysis and specification development. Position responsibilities also include the participation in various hardware selection processes, LRU selection, system vendor selection, design implementation reviews, hardware location selection reviews, and testing planning/ reviews. Under the guidance of the Project Manager, responsible for: performing technical tasks, coordinating the use of resources to accomplish objectives, ensuring the quality and content of technical products, and providing decision support.
This position requires comprehensively demonstrating an ability to apply practical engineering design and integration processes and procedures in military standard, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS), custom hardware, software, electro-mechanical, electro-hydraulic, and digital control equipment and / or other systems components; provides technical advice to customer; provides professional findings of technical analysis in the form of reports, white papers, and presentations; ensures that the overall hardware / systems development cycle and evaluation processes are effective, and conducts, facilitates or executes complex engineering and technical tasks / projects. Plans, directs, reviews and coordinates preparation of project documentation to ensure customer contractual and program requirements are met. Duties also include preparing presentations, specifications, monthly reports, technical analysis, technical reports, and test reports; scheduling appointments, arranging meetings, and preparing required materials. May participate in / lead customer or contractor meetings to facilitate, manage, record and / or report on proceedings.
The successful candidate should possess the ability to track, process, produce and distribute engineering deliverables and monitor comments on status; collect and analyze performance data; assess and quantify cost / schedule / management / business status and risk; evaluate trend and project cost completion estimates; participate in program management reviews and business meetings; and prepare and coordinate inputs for acquisition documentation, status reports, briefings and information inquiries. Defense Acquisition University (DAU) Level II certification or equivalency (Systems Planning Research Development Engineering (SPRDE) preferred) required; DAU Level III highly preferred.
Experience with USMC, or other Service, programs' TTD&S design / development engineering is preferred. As required, conduct engineering / technical evaluations of cost proposals; including fact finding, cost / technical trade-off analyses and evaluation report writing. Possess the demonstrated ability to support preparation of independent cost estimates for evaluation of alternatives, including supporting the development of cost and operational effectiveness analyses (COEA) and Bottom-Up / Top-Down cost estimates. Conduct special engineering studies and evaluations, research and analyze problems and determine element requirements with minimum supervision. Collaborate with customer(s) to define, coordinate and track the status of multi-disciplinary task(s) and provide advice on management, engineering and business element planning and implementation. Review program reports, technical papers, drawings, specifications, procedures, etc., and perform tests / evaluations and validations / verifications. Provide comments and consolidate and adjudicate comments from various organizations and prepare reports as required. Prepare program management correspondence (i.e., letters, memos and route sheets), design charts, spreadsheets, Gantt charts and associated presentations and prepare analytical reports and meeting minutes as required.
This position is contingent with anticipated work start in February 2012.
This position may require travel up to 25%.
The position will require ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Current clearance is desired.
