Posted Position Title Instrumentation Engineer Career Level Experienced Function Engineering/Technology Function Segment Product Design and Development Location United States U.S. State, China or Canada Provinces Oklahoma City Oklahoma City Postal Code 73135-4530 Relocation Assistance Yes Role Summary/Purpose The primary focus of the Instrumentation's Engineer is running engineering projects for instrumentation of and automating test equipment. Incumbent will review, specify, size, and requisition instrumentation for use in an engineering laboratory, and set up, run, train others on, and document the instrumentation system. Essential Responsibilities Leadership in the design, implementation, and maintenance of instrumentation systems in support of Engineering projects and in support the development of new test systems. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
* Runs multiple engineering projects under the guidance of a department manager; department engineers; and lab supervisor
* Maintains priorities in his/her work, even though tasks and priorities are often changing due to company requirements
* Reviews, specifies, sizes, and requisitions instrumentation for use in an engineering laboratory
* Performs set up, initial run, trains others on, and documents the instrumentation and automation system as part of implementation
* Takes a proactive role in safety, ensuring that safety precautions are taken and reporting non-safe behavior or working conditions (this applies to the design, operation, and maintenance of test systems as well as to daily work activities)
* Ensures that all electrical systems meet or exceed documented safety standards
* Troubleshoots electrical controls circuits related to lab test systems Qualifications/Requirements * Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, with an interest in instrumentation
* Minimum of 3 years of instrumentation engineering experience Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen. Desired Characteristics * Working knowledge of computer network creation and security
* Ability to create and understand engineering documentation based on standard ANSI drawing practices
* Strong communications skills - written, analytical, negotiating and interpersonal are essential
* Competent with Microsoft Office software
* Knowledge of programmable logic controllers and related software
* Knowledge and experience with LabView
* Strong team building and facilitation skills
* Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
* Ability to manage electronic data files
* Ability to perform in a team environment, across functions, and with suppliers and revenue sharing partners
