Huntsville Systems Engineer 1
Entry level Systems Engineering position for defense related programs in Huntsville, Alabama. The selected candidate may be assigned to the Ground Based Mid-Course Defense (GMD) program, the Missile Defense Agency's National Team (NT), or other defense program. Typical responsibilities may include: a) requirements development and functional analysis; b) documentation of requirements, verification methods and associated specification traces using Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS); c) development of system representations, use cases, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams and state machine diagrams using Rhapsody, System Architect or similar tools ; d) flight test planning; e) system or element level performance analysis; f) technical support to program and readiness reviews; g) preparation of analysis reports and results; h) preparation of technical specifications; and i) preparation of other reports and briefing charts. System and element level performance analyses may include integration and analysis of multiple radars and geographically distributed assets, the fire control system, corresponding engagement solutions and resulting interceptor and end game performance for specific elements or the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). Duties may include detailed Radar System and/or Component
Level Performance Analysis, end to end analysis, and scheduling and tracking and analysis in support of pre-mission analysis and readiness reviews. Radar component level analysis focuses on the detailed functions (acquisition, tracking, discrimination, and communications) of each component. The selected individual may be required to perform radar console operations, supporting operational system tests, with UNIX based software and applications. *** THIS POSITION MAY REQUIRE CANDIDATE SCREENING AND ACCEPTANCE BY INDUSTRY PARTNER RESOURCE CONTROL BOARD. *** REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: An active secret clearance is required. Typical Education/Experience
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: Experience developing model based engineering artifacts using SysML and/or UML. Experience using the Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS), System Architect, or similar systems engineering tools. Familiarity with the Missile Defense program or one of the BMDS Element Programs. Engineering internship or work experience in defense business sector. Performance analysis experience. Proficiency with MATLAB and other industry standard analysis tools. Team or project lead experience. Entry level knowledge of UNIX (Solaris, Linux) and VMS servers. PREFERRED EDUCATION: Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Physics are the preferred degrees. Coursework using model based systems engineering techniques preferred. Training in systems engineering methods, processes and procedures preferred. Coursework using MATLAB and/or DOORS preferred. Coursework related to radar design and performance preferred. Prefer an engineering degree within the past two years.
