Huntsville Systems Engineer 1\2
Entry level engineer for Huntsville defense programs. The Boeing Huntsville site hosts several defense, space and commercial programs. This position is an entry level engineering position supporting one of our defense programs which include the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) National Team (NT), the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program, the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System (IBCS), Patriot Advanced Capability -3 (PAC-3), and Arrow. The National Team supports the MDA as it develops, tests, and fields an integrated Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). The GMD system is the first and only operationally deployed missile defense program to defend the homeland against long-range ballistic missile attacks. The system provides early detection and tracking during the boost phase, midcourse target discrimination, precision intercept and destruction of inbound ICBMs through force of hit-to-kill technology. The IBCS is a network-centric systems-of-systems solution for integrating sensors, shooters and battle management, command, control, communications and intelligence systems for Army air and missile defense. The Boeing Huntsville team is the integrator for the PAC-3 seeker. Boeing and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) co-produce the Arrow II interceptor and are developing the Arrow 3 interceptor for the Israel Ministry of Defense (MoD).
As a team member of one of our defense programs the selected individual will perform systems engineering tasks such as: a) requirements development and functional analysis; b) documentation of requirements, verification methods and associated specification traces using Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS); c) development of system representations, use cases, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams and state machine diagrams using standard tools; d) development and documentation of system architectures; e) coordination of technical data across teams; f) development and evaluation of technical performance measures; g) participation in technical reviews; h) conducting trade studies; i) gather and analyze test data; j) support test planning; and/or k) preparation of specification, reports and briefing charts.
