• Lead Government Affairs Strategy in Washington DC to optimize/defend market access in Established Markets (EU) and help facilitate market entry, secure foreign marketing authorizations and optimize market access in Emerging Markets • Lead USG and Congressional Engagement on International Issues • Lead Engagement Plan for Amgen Senior Executives Washington, DC & Annual BIO Convention (including Training Program on Global Commercial Diplomacy & Government Communications) • Partner with IGA EDS (EU/Brussels), Regional Directors (Emerging Mkts) and Government Affairs Directors to drive Political & Diplomatic Activity to Support Affiliates • Help drive Cross-functional Collaboration (GV&A, GRAAS, Law, Corporate Development, Communications, US Federal Affairs) • Facilitate Cross-functional Approach for Political/Policy Toolkits, Training and Messaging • Partner with IGA VP on Integration of Communications, Policy, Biosimilars and Advocacy in Planning for Priority Markets • Help track Macro-economic Trends and Implications for Amgen Business • Manage team of External Political Consultants in WASHDC, coordination of Local External Consultants in major markets • Drive Amgen agenda through Trade Groups (PhRMA/BIO), Business Councils & Think Tanks on Country Specific Issues in priority markets • Supervises Senior Manager and Executive Director CEE Activity, International Government Affairs • Facilitates Cross Functional Teams on Political and Policy issues (Regional GV&A, GRAAS, Law, Corp Development, Communications)
Basic Qualifications • Doctorate degree & 4 years of directly related experience OR • Master's degree & 8 years of directly related experience OR • Bachelor's degree & 10 years of directly related experience
Preferred Qualifications • 10+ years experience in government affairs in Washington DC • University degree in government and policy • Proven track record of excellent performance in government and international affairs • Proficient in translating political activity and policy trends into commercial impact • Extensive network in Washington; DC, overseas network a plus • Mature business person who has experience in delivering on political strategy and execution to support business priorities • Success with political engagement to support market access and reimbursement • Understands trends in the environment and has a strong knowledge of, and experience with, US Government Agencies (US Trade Representative, State Department, Commerce Department)), experience with US Congress a plus • Understands trends in the global environment and has a strong understanding of global commercial diplomacy, foreign governments & international affairs • Experience in team leadership and virtual team operations in a highly-matrixed and fluid environment • Excellent command of the English language, both orally and in written form, foreign language a plus.
