JOB: GEOLOGICAL GIS TECHNICIAN/GIS GEOLOGIST, TRAINING PROVIDED GeoMax has a position open for a Geological GIS Technician/GIS Geologist. Flexible schedule, hourly pay, complete on-the-job training. GeoMax is a small but busy consultancy located in central Boulder, a few blocks from Pearl and Broadway. We specialize in GIS services for exploration and mining companies of all sizes, including individual consultants and the largest mining companies in the world. Our working environment is relaxed and informal but fast paced. Everyone needs to wear different hats at different times depending on what needs arise. We are looking for a very responsible person who has high standards, wants to work hard, can work independently, is a fast learner and can be self-directed once they understand the tasks at hand. We require someone who is familiar with computer work, has skills either as a GIS technician and/or geologist and is interested in acquiring additional skills in all of these areas. On the job training will be an integral part of the work. We work with both 2-and 3-dimensional data and use a variety of software packages. Our primary GIS engine is MapInfo, though ArcGIS, AUTOCAD and other non-GIS/non-Map database experience (e.g. Access) is a plus it is not required. Part of our business is providing training in GIS and mineral exploration for our clients, as well as selling and providing support for the software that we use. Examples of the type of work you can expect are included below. Work hours (number and schedule) are flexible within reason. Pay is on an hourly basis and will be determined based on experience and will be re-assessed at regular intervals. The expectation is that pay will start no lower than ~ $15/hour and move up from there, but is dependent on the individual. It is likely that occasional work-related travel will be expected. Necessary software and training is provided; a personal laptop would be a benefit but is not required. Starting date is flexible, however we require someone who can begin soon. We can also accommodate a schedule that increases the number of hours committed over the next several months. References and resume required.
