As part of the build up of our project execution engineering team, we are looking for an experienced Design Engineer to functionally lead Arrangement and Piping Engineering within the Small Steam Turbine activity, which is part of Thermal Renewables.
Reporting to the local Engineering & Unit Manager you will functionally lead and be responsible for the efficient and quality engineering associated with the steam turbine arrangement planning and piping design in all relevant technical and leadership aspects.
Tasks and Responsibilities: * Training, education, technical coordination and functional leadership of arrangement and piping engineers in various sites and global locations * Support continuous improvement of working procedures and instructions within the functional responsibility by integrating business objectives * Perform engineering work for projects, e.g. definition and design of piping systems (incl. hangers and supports, pipe specifications and materials, stress analysis of piping) using in-house computer programs, spreadsheets and hand calculations * Coordination of interfaces within the project team and external engineering service providers for all related aspects during the engineering and execution of a project * Technical coordination and supervision of suppliers * Technical support of erection and commissioning activities * Release of detailed isometric documentation for ST and water steam cycle piping * Release of documents for arrangement planning, for foundation planning and steel structures as well as piping erection documentation that could include welding and cleaning procedures * Release of detailed documentation for reviews, purchasing, manufacturing and erection * Efficient order engineering to high quality standards ensuring on time delivery within given cost targets. Design for manufacture and installation is a critical aspect * Planning, forecasting and driving for engineering outputs such as 3D models, documents and production orders * Satisfy project and specification requirements while maximizing the application of standard concepts * Technical support to tendering incl. draughting of application specific layouts/ arrangements and pipe routings, estimation of piping and arrangement engineering cost as well as hardware cost related to the estimated bill of materialQualifications
You will have a constructive, team and target-orientated attitude with high level of self-motivation. You will have proven leadership skills and be motivated to share your expertise to develop others in a global engineering set-up.
You will have an Engineering degree and at least 6 years experience in the arrangement & piping planning of turbomachinery generator sets, preferably steam turbines including auxiliary systems, or in overall power plant arrangement and piping design. You will be familiar with IT solutions in the field of work such as PDMS and SECAD and hold database knowledge such as Product Data Management (PDM), CAD, MS Office and ERP software.
Basic knowledge of power generation in general, steam turbine design and operation, instrumentation, risk analysis and international codes and standards are required. Site experience and / or practical qualifications (e.g. welder certificate) would be advantageous. Strong English language skills are a prerequisite for the position.
