The BAE Systems Joint Expeditionary Forensics Facilities (JEFF) Program is aggressively searching for talented professionals with experience as an Evidence Custodian wishing to be apart of a dynamic team to work in deployed forensic laboratories in Iraq and/or Afghanistan. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evidence management involving all types of materials for forensic analysis; ensuring compliance with policies and procedures relating to storage and disposal of evidence; maintaining chain of custody; monitoring the issue and transfer of government property and military assets in the form of laboratory equipment and evidence; managing proper handling and storage of government property throughout the facility; maintaining integrity of property records; and other duties as assigned. Above all, organizational skills are critical. The individual must be able to prioritize, handle, and execute on multiple requests and tasking in order to handle a very high volume of work. In addition to the technical skills above, additional attributes are a must. The characteristics most highly regarded are innovativeness, self-motivation, professionalism, and flexibility suitable for an expeditionary environment.
During time of deployment, substantial amounts of additional compensation will be added to base salary. Housing and food is provided. BAE Systems offers competitive salary and benefits. Please inquire for additional details.
* A minimum of a Bachelor's degree coupled with 2 years of related experience; An Associate's degree coupled with 4 years of related experience; or a high school diploma coupled with 6 years of related experience. * A minimum of 5 years experience in some or all of the following areas: receiving and documenting evidence in a forensics laboratory; maintenance of evidentiary integrity and chain of custody; preparation of examination requests; and preparing, transmitting, and receiving mail evidence packages. * Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. * Willing to deploy overseas for 3 to 6 month rotational intervals for a total of at least 1 year. * Meet contractual requirements associated with the Minimal Standard of Fitness for Deployment. * Prior military experience is strongly preferred, but not required. * Experience processing evidence (latent print, photography, firearms, drug chemistry, DNA/serology, etc.) within a forensic discipline at the technician level.
