As a member of the Core Engineering FBW system development team the candidate will actively participate in the system technical definition and integration from conceptual design phase to production implementation. As such the candidate may be involved and/or responsible for a number of aircraft development activities such as: * Integration of equipment to the aircraft and therefore develop equipment interface to other systems and structure. * Develop concepts, design approach and philosophy with the system Partner. * Develop, validate and verify technical requirements for the electronics hardware, software or firmware aspects of the FBW Flight Control System (FCS) and prepare technical requirements documents. * Perform/Review analysis to evaluate concepts feasibility. * Perform trade off studies and life cycle cost analysis. * Develop actuator interface to other systems and structure. * Review performance analysis. * Actively participate to the different peer and design reviews (PDR, CDR, ...) . * Review/Prepare test procedures. * Review/Prepare certification and test reports. * Review supplier qualification documentation and recommend for approval. * Resolve problems arising from the development and certification activities. * Resolve problems arising from the product entry into service and sustaining phases. * Functional requirements development and implementation of requirements in hardware and firmware. * Review of system detailed design. * Coordination of technical issues resolution across all Bombardier, Supplier, Regulatory & Customer affected parties. * Support of system, qualification, ground test, flight test and certification activities. * Follow the ARP4754 process. * Ensure the design process and the resulting equipment implementation is in line with Bombardier's requirements and standards. Occasional trips to the Suppliers facilities and Regulatory Authorities, as well as on-site support to the ground and flight test program may be required.
As a senior member of the FBW System Group the candidate will also be responsible to mentor more junior engineers and may be requested to lead certain activities. The ideal candidate meets these requirements: * University Engineering Degree qualification, and have a minimum of 11 years experience in aerospace related field. * Candidate has been directly involved in the definition and certification of at least one FBW control system. * Candidate shall possess an excellent understanding of all facets of system definition, integration, and certification and have a good knowledge of aircraft systems and interfaces (e.g., electrical, hydraulic, avionics, auto-flight). * Basic knowledge of FBW FCS architecture, electronic and mechanical components, data buses, input signal management including monitoring, redundancy management and mode logic, and failure modes and effects * Basic knowledge of rigorous requirements validation and design verification processes and techniques (ARP4754, RTCA DO-178B, RTCA DO 254). * Basic knowledge of Part 25 certification process. * Experience in modeling and dynamic simulation of flight controls and associated sub-systems such as electrical and hydraulic power generation and distribution systems, electrical and hydraulic actuators, air data systems is an asset. * Working knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow simulation environment, and some knowledge of automatic control. * Some familiarity with other simulation environments such as ADAMS, or design tools such as CATIA would be an asset. * Good knowledge of MS Office and Requirements Management tools is an asset. * Soft skills: * Excellent oral presentation and technical writing skills in English are required (French is an asset). * Have the ability to work with limited supervision, be organized, a team player, a self-motivated person, be Customer focused, and be able to work under pressure. * You must also show initiative, innovation, leadership, a strong sense of responsibility and integrity, adaptability, have good interpersonal communication skills, have a good engineering judgement, and drive for results.
