Flexible Machining System Operator
Within an assigned Flexible Machining System (FMS) set up, operate, and adjust numerically controlled machines and associated equipment using control media or manually enter data to rough out and finish machine to quality requirements anything the machines are or may be adapted to machine. (*Simultaneous machine operation through the use of a common controller is limited to a maximum of four (4) machines. **Associated equipment such as Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) and Wire Guided Vehicle System (WGV)
Competencies
Obtain and use information from drawings, documents, solid model definition, machine control media, sketches and verbal information. Make adjustments during machining cycles and, as authorized, install various types of cutting tools to obtain required results. Mount and check cutting tools in holders and load in machines. Initiate requests for corrective action when machine and associated equipment malfunctions occur, detect faulty tools, and take corrective action in conformance with shop practice and procedures. Use and operate all precision measuring instruments, equipment, gauges, tools, hand tools, etc., necessary to set up machines and/or check machined parts for finish and dimensions, breaking all edges. As authorized, assist the planner or programmer to determine the final numerical control program. Responsible for full utilization of machine capacities, minimizing the amount of machining and number of setups. Use any and all FMS computers as authorized.

Do you have at least 3 years experience running two or more machines integrated into an Flexible Machining System (FMS)?
Typical Education/Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
