The Failure Analysis Engineer operates software and equipment to perform engineering tasks pertaining to failure analysis.

• Confers with other engineers, customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering tasks.
• Directs and coordinates manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes and customer requirements.
• Designs, implements, maintains and improves electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products and systems for commercial, industrial and domestic purposes.
• Prepares specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.
• Performs detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications.
• Investigates customer or public complaints, determine nature of problem and recommend remedial measures.
• Oversees production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and on budget.
• Plans and implements research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.
• Conducts routine and non-routine analyses of in-process materials, raw materials, environmental samples, finished goods, or stability samples.
• Compiles laboratory test data and perform appropriate analyses.
• Completes documentation needed to support testing procedures including data capture forms, equipment logbooks, or inventory forms.
• Evaluates analytical methods and procedures to determine how they might be improved.
• Interprets test results, compares them to established specifications and control limits, and makes recommendations on appropriateness of data for release.
• Investigates or reports questionable test results.
• Monitors testing procedures to ensure that all tests are performed according to established item specifications, standard test methods, or protocols.
• Participates in out-of-specification and failure investigations and recommends corrective actions.
