Facilities Engineering Environmental Specialist

The Environmental Specialist is responsible for regulated waste stream management and reporting. This position coordinates waste handling, storage, classification, shipping, recycling, disposal and pollution prevention. In addition, this position conducts employee regulatory training programs. The Environmental Specialist executes emergency response and spill clean-up activities and assistsother staff members with various regulatory programs (tanks, chemical management, water, etc.) when necessary while ensuring regulatory compliance with federal, state and local agencies. In addition, this position implements corporate policies and procedures andprovides environmental/chemical management expertise and leadership as related to site processes and materials.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the environmental/chemical or related technical field
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Negotiation/Human interaction skills a must
• Competent in MS Office Software
• Experience with mainframe/and or government data systems
• Ability to work independently and in a cooperative environment
• Occassional off shift and weekend work required
• Incident command (24 hour) and Emergency Response trained

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced Degree preferred
• Prefer degree major in Environmental Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or another related field
• Knowledge and understanding of environmental & basic safety regulations (RCRA, SARA, SPCC, EPCRA, HAZWOPER, ETC.)
• Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) Certification preferred
• World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and/or ISO14000 knowledge/experience a plus
• Bargaining Unit or Supervisory experience a plus
