Position Purpose: Professional, technical leadership position responsible for developing, managing, and coordinating technology and product program activities for the Body Technologies Ergonomics organization. The incumbent leads and manages several simultaneous projects and has the accountability to lead, direct, and guide the implementation of plans which assure that International products exhibit Best In Class in Ergonomics. The Senior Ergonomics Engineer provides guidance and direction in a number of areas, including: (1) conducting applied research to develop design criteria that supports other human factors applications engineers and product development programs; (2) evaluating vehicle designs as part of the product development process to assure compliance with Ergonomic criteria and assisting designers and engineers in making critical design trade-offs to ensure usability of the end product; (3) developing human factors tools and capabilities including human factors design criteria, usability metrics, and ergonomics benchmarking processes; (4) developing human factors product development processes and integrating them with International’s product development process; and, (5) identifying and managing human factors resources external to International and maintaining contracts with such resources. Finished Ergonomic development must provide for improved total vehicle human factors and support the strategic initiatives of the vehicle centers.
Basic Requirements: * MA or MS in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Industrial and Operations Engineering, Engineering Psychology, or Biomechanics
Additional Requirements: * Ability to travel overnight (5%) * Prior demonstrated experience in experimental design (using humans as test subjects) and statistical analysis. * At least 1 year of experience using CAD software (e.g. Unigraphics, Catia) to evaluate 3d models and to provide design guidance in 3d. * At least 2 years of post-degree experience applying ergonomics principles/techniques to the design and evaluation ofmilitaryvehicles (preferred), operator workstations or equipment, or demonstration of equivalent skills. (Experience with MANPRINT a plus.) * US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status required (Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information) Desired Skills: * Positive Attitude, Ethics, and International Values which support our company's values and a healthy, high performance culture. * Experience working with customers and suppliers, including establishing and monitoring contracts with suppliers. * Leadership potential. * Direct experience applying human digital modeling software to product design and evaluation * Ability to facilitate and make complex trade-off decisions. * Ability to plan and complete multiple job assignments. * Good computer utilization skills (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, etc.). * Proven ability to work effectively as a member of multi-disciplinary design teams.
