GDLS provides a full spectrum of land and amphibious combat systems, subsystems, and components worldwide. The company designs and builds armored vehicles and subsystems for the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and international customers, and is the defense industry's largest supplier of armored military vehicles.
? Assist senior designer/database administrator in maintaining Team Center database and managing WTC ProE data. ? Assist in Organizing WTC CAD environment, which may include developing, implementing and enforcing new CAD standards and checklists. ? Supply technical support for all CAD software, which includes creating training material for new engineers and designers. ? Train WTC engineering personnel, as required, to ensure all ProE models are compliant with GDLS standards. ? Perform basic checking of drafting work as required. ? Conduct project releated model reviews. ? Perform tolerance analysis to insure proper fit of components and implement Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Techniques to the designs. ? Clean up CAD files for project closeout. ? Revise and/or recreate/redraw existing models and drawings to improve product design, manufacturability and technical data package fidelity. ? Generate design solutions for component and assemblies requiring the use of accepted formulas to compute applied stress, loads, volumes, etc, relying on the expertise of a more experienced mechanical engineer when required. ? Support engineering through the initiation of Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and the compilation of supporting documentation through final change incorporation. ? Compose documents using word processor, spreadsheet, and/or MS Office products. ? Additional engineering department duties and responsibilities as required.
Education: ? 10-14 years CAD design relevant experience.
Experience: ? >2000 hours practical experience with parametric Pro/Engineer Wildfire, including advanced surfacing, Pro-Cable and Pro/Welding. ? Complete design integration documentation of mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies. ? Must have experience of ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. ? Must have experience with Bill of Materials (BOM) preparation ? Practical experience with formal design and development methodologies, including configuration management and engineering change control.
Skills: ? Strong analytical and problem solving skills. ? Solid understanding of ProE, Team Center, and Intralink systems. ? Advanced computer skills and database proficiency. ? Ability to coordinate design activities within a team environment that includes subcontractors and other engineering disciplines. ? Must be able to make independent decisions and judgments. ? Ability to meet deadlines, especially in time critical situations. ? Excellent Written and verbal communication skills. ? Strong understanding of design and development processes from concept to production. ? Experience designing components for various manufacturing techniques, including machining, injection molding, extrusion, and sheet metal bending.
