The company designs and builds armored vehicles and subsystems for the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and international customers, and is the defense industry's largest supplier of armored military vehicles.
The position is a full time Mechanical Engineering position based out of Woodbridge, Virginia in support of the Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV) Program. The position will report directly to the Engine Integrated Product Team (IPT) manager. This individual will participate as a member of the EFV Engine IPT and coordinate the integration requirements of the Engine Systems and Subsystems with other affected product teams such as structures, hydraulics and vehicle electronics to insure the required performance levels of the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) are met. The work involved would include but not be limited to: 1) Conduct root cause analysis to determine failure modes. The ability to redesign a subsystem within the current design requirements to eliminate the failure. A fundamental understanding of engine fuel systems and Diesel Engine technology is needed. 2) Ability to integrate a new APU subsystem into the EFV. This will be a comprehensive program from requirement definition, initial market research and trade studies to analysis, design and integration into the EFV system. 3) Provide technical test site support for the Engine IPT with some travel required. 4) Direct the creation, redesign, and management of Pro/E models for assigned design responsibilities. Works with Pro/E designers to generate models, perform design analysis or direct activities of the Analysis IPT in support of Engine IPT designs. 5) Support the Engine IPT by managing interfaces, system requirements, technical issue resolution, as well as managing cost, schedule, weight, DTUPC, RAM-D, for the Auxiliary Power Unit subsystem. 6) Time management and the ability to maintain accurate documented records for all engineering changes.
11) Candidate should have Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) with 3-9 Years of related experience. 2) Proficient in Pro/E with over 4000 hours of design time. 3) Must be able to multi task in developing and reviewing engineering designs. 4) Ability to conduct root cause analysis to determine engineering design failures and conduct redesign efforts. 5) Demonstrated ability to work in a team / IPT environment. 6) Must be motivated, energetic, take direction well, and work with others in a professional manner. 7) Strong Leadership, communications, planning, coordination and management capabilities. 8) Occasional overtime, weekend and off-hours. 9) Occasional travel in support of remote vehicle testing and meetings with subcontractors. 10) Experience with test planning and coordination is desired. 11) Experience with Pro/E, Intralink and Mockup. 12) Design experience with composite materials, CAD, FEA and CFD is desired. 13) Must be a U.S. citizen capable of obtaining a Secret Security Clearance. 14) Experience with MS project, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
