Northrop Grumman - Essex a Market Leader in Developing and Delivering Agile Intelligence Enterprise Solutions is seeking a highly qualified Software Engineer for a major contracting effort in the Columbia, MD area.
Roles and Responsibilities: Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.
Minimum Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or equivalent experience. 9 years experience in software development, programming, and/or engineering. 4+ years developing software using the Java programming language. 3+ years of either C or C++ Windows/Linux programming experience. 3+ years demonstrated experience developing software for Windows (2000, 2003, XP, Vista), UNIX and Linux (Redhat versions 3-5) operating systems with at least 1 year of this experience having been obtained within the last 2 years. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment where multiple projects are being developed and deployed simultaneously. Must be able to work well within a team environment. Must be able to adapt quickly to change. Position requires a current TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph Clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
3+ years in software integration and software testing, including the development of test plans and test scripts. Experience developing of SOA Framework infrastructure and services within one of the SOA Design patterns and wrapping legacy systems or components as Web Services within this framework. Experience developing custom adapters for the integration of legacy capabilities with service-based Framework infrastructure and services. Experience with performance tuning and optimization of service-based Framework infrastructure and services. Experience in development within the Eclipse Integrated Development Environment (IDE). Experience architecting, designing, developing, testing, and supporting integration of Hadoop and MapReduce frameworks.
