Title: Engineer Field 3 Location: Colorado-Schriever AFB Position Description:CNE Maintenance Field Engineer. Responsible for daily maintenance activities of GFC/C Communications Node Equipment (CNE) and Network System Manager hardware. Responsible for troubleshooting, problem resolution, replacement of LRU (Line Replaceable Units), property tracking and trouble ticket resolution. Work to be performed at Schriever AFB, Colorado Springs, CO. Support the Prime Contractor Support System (PCSS) process by coordinating maintenance activities and provide required data inputs to the CIMMS database. Complete scheduled preventative maintenance as well as corrective maintenance. Perform required logistics functions to maintain operational readiness. Track maintenance anomalies and associated metrics. Coordinate with on-site Customer and Product Teams to resolve anomalies, develop and document troubleshooting and corrective maintenance procedures, and schedule and perform required maintenance actions. Support Long-haul communication (LHC) network troubleshooting and maintenance activities. Cross-train into NSM (Network System Manager) console Operator position to monitor status of communications and GFC operational and test equipment using HP Openview tool.
The following are theBasic Qualificationsfor this position: DoD Secret security clearance with ability to obtain SCI and Top Secret clearance. Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, MIS or related technical degree and 5 years of related experience or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, MIS or related technical degree and 3 years of related rs of experience may be substituted for degree requirement. Detailed knowledge of local area networking (LAN) fundamentals with specific experience working with Ethernet routers, switches, and protocols in TCP-IP based communications system. Strong work ethic, demonstrated problem solving ability, willingness to learn new skills, and proactive approach. Ability to work effectively on a small team. Willing to be available on call for critical system required responses. Experience with UNIX/LINUX command line interface. Knowledge of UNIX, SNMP and HP OpenView applications. Ability to be on call for mission critical response as needed. Ability to travel up to 10% of time as needed.
Assets: . DoD 8570 Network , Security and/or CCNA certification . CISCO Router/Switch specific experience and familiarity with associated maintenance actions/approaches . OSPF and Multicast routing protocol experience . Test, integration and evaluation through college coursework, on-the-job training, and/or informal training programs. . Knowledge of Military command, control and communication systems . Familairity with HP Open View . Experience working with Sun Solaris platforms Familiarity with missile defense programs and GMD Fire Control/Communications functionality . Experience with CIMMS database . Process and mission oriented . SUN/IBM System Administrator experience a plus . Familiarity with local area network fundamentals and router and switch configuration maintenance actions . Experience in communications equipment log file analysis
