Pratt & Whitney Controls & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) is a dynamic engineering organization focused on the development and certification of military, commercial and industrial gas turbine engine control and diagnostic systems. CDS is responsible for all aspects of Pratt & Whitney engine control and diagnostic system development including: requirements analysis & definition, system & software architecture, algorithm design, and product software design, verification & validation. We integrate the control and diagnostic system design across other engine system modules and with the air vehicles and provide support throughout the complete engine product life cycle.
The selected candidate is expected to provide leadership to achieve technical excellence in all aspects of engine system software development and engine control and diagnostic technologies by establishing strategic direction and plans for the discipline, track and communicate status on these plans, establish key external relationships, and recognize industry trends and competitive positions. Perform all activities related to the development of engine control and diagnostic software algorithm from system requirements decomposition and analysis through certification.
The candidate will motivate and mentor key individuals to develop future leaders in the discipline.
The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary/multi-project team environment focused on developing and certifying safety and mission critical embedded systems.

Minimum of 10+ years of relevant technical experience in safety critical embedded control system and software development is needed.
Prior experience in system level requirements decomposition and writing software specifications for control and diagnostic systems is required.
Proven track record of achieving results in a technical leadership role is required.
The candidate should have hands-on experience in the application of advanced control theory.
Demonstrated ability to develop complex fault detection and accommodation algorithms and advanced testing methodology is expected.
Experience with developing re-usable software architecture and application of systems and software product line engineering is desirable.
Previous aerospace and military project experience preferred.
Conversant in regulatory standards such as DO-178B and DO-254. Knowledge of DO-178C, ARP4754, system saftey analysis and model based development is a plus.
Experience in the development of flight critical control systems and software and knowledge in software certification for airworthiness is required.
Proven ability to drive process improvement in a technical organization using 6 Sigma or ACE methods and engineering standard work is needed.
Knowledge of CMMI and model implementation is desirable.
Familiarity with jet engine control system architectures and control and diagnostic logic development is desirable.
