Position Summary: The engine component test engineer is responsible for leading the component validation of engine hardware. This includes a combination of executing rig testing and coordinating third-party testing. The position also includes responsibility for increasing existing test capability and maintaining start-of-the art test methods to ensure adequate component and system level validation.
Roles and Responsibilities: . Develop design validation plans for engine components such as: piston, crankshaft, thermostat, valvetrain components and other related engine hardware. . Conduct component and system level development and validation tests as well as track supplier conducted testing. . Collaborate with system development engineers and component design engineers to develop comprehensive component validation standards. . Support durability engine testing in both tank and vessel environments. . Continuously improve the component test capability, identify capability gaps, and work cross-functionally to design and implement new test systems. . Work in a team structure to resolve component failures and ensure adequate component design margin.
Job Requirements: Required Qualifications: . Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technology from an accredited degree program. . 0-5 years experience or equivalent. . Strong engine background with working knowledge of both two and four-stroke internal combustion engines. . Knowledge of failure mode analysis and reliability engineering tools. . Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong emphasis on technical writing skills. . Solid modeling experience, specific experience with Pro-E is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications: . Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited engineering program. . Understanding of statistical tools and methods. . Certified Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma or Design for Six Sigma. . Experience with Pro-E solid modeling software. . Experience with dynamic modeling software such as Pro/Mechanism. . Experience with FEA software such as Pro/Mechanica. . Experience with both gasoline and diesel engines.
