Job Description: EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) Test Engineer
Test routers and switches for RF emissions and for immunity to transient phenomena in the company's Accredited EMC test facility. Test for immunity to power line and data line lightning surges, electrical fast-burst transients, electrostatic discharges (ESD), radiated and conducted immunity, power line dips and interrupts, flicker and harmonics, and low frequency magnetic field immunity. Measure radiated electromagnetic emissions from 150 kHz to 40 GHz.
Perform testing in company's 10m (63'Lx45'Wx30'H) semi-anechoic chamber. Gain exposure to a wide variety of company products including high-end core routers and switches using various fiber optic and copper network interfaces. Operate RF measurement test equipment including: spectrum analyzers, antennas, automated test equipment, RF amplifiers, power supplies, communications systems analyzers, oscilloscopes, and a host of other specialized test equipment. Learn basic router configuration and BER testing with IXIA / Smartbits traffic generators as you configure ad-hoc networks for testing.
Work directly with EMC Design, Hardware, Software, Power, Mechanical, CAD, and Product Safety Engineers on testing, troubleshooting high speed digital design, component, or manufacturability issues.
Responsibilities will include:
-Writing test plans -Writing test reports -Configuring Ad-hoc LAN/WAN networks for EMC testing. -Set up and configuring Traffic generators (Smartbits,IXIA) -Operate automated EMC test equipment, Spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc. -Perform RF testing and measurement up to 40 GHz. -Perform EMC immunity testing. (Lightning Surge, ESD, RF immunity) -Work directly with HW, software and EMC Engineers. -Assist in Mitigation of any design issues. -Provide detailed project status
Essential Qualifications: REQUIRED: . Expert knowledge of International regulatory compliance requirements for ITE/TNE equipment (i.e. FCC Part 15, EN 55022, EN 300 386, EN 55024, EN 61000-x-x). . Minimum 3 - 5 years experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited test lab testing products under the requirements above. . Available to work full time (40 hrs/week) . Able to participate as a contributing team member . Able to work independently . Good interpersonal & organizational skills . Ability to use Spreadsheet, Word Processor, Database, & Email . Candidates should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
PREFERRED: . BSEE . Ability to troubleshoot systems . Completed Coursework in electromagnetic theory, transmission lines, high speed digital design, or signal integrity . Hands-on knowledge of Oscilloscope, DVM, Spectrum Analyzers . Familiarity with Cisco (or other) networking products . RF Experience a plus . NEBS experience a plus. . CCNA certification a Plus
