Electronics Technician I
The Electronics Technician applies basic technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks following detailed instructions, performs such tasks as replacing components, wiring circuits, repairing simple electronic equipment; and taking test readings using common instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes. This person works under close supervision receiving technical guidance from supervisor or higher-level technician. Work is checked frequently for accuracy.
- Assists in the performance of aircraft bench and/or flight line operational testing, troubleshooting to the LRU level or applicable wiring, adjustment, repair and installation of any complex or non-complex aircraft avionics system in the testing, development, repair, alignment and modification of aircraft and related systems in accordance with DOD, manufacturer, company, supplier and other directives.
- Perform assembly, installation, check-out physical characteristics, operational testing and modification of wire bundles and avionics components in the testing, development and modification of aircraft in accordance with DOD, manufacturer, company, supplier and other directives.
Duties:
- Use a variety of manual hand tools such as crimpers, strippers, wire cutters, heat shrink gun, specialized aircraft test equipment, etc. The mechanic will be required to access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate on-line parts and discrepancy requests.
- Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, written instructions, etc.
- Assemble, modify, and install wire bundles, conductors and other electrical components, to include radio frequency cabling and antenna systems.
- Effectively communicate, orally and written, with other employees, members of supervision, and others, as required in their duties.
- Clearly document maintenance and repair actions, equipment status tags, logs, parts requests, etc.
- Perform assigned duties while wearing required safety equipment. Perform assigned duties on all shifts without encumbrances due to weather or physical location and conditions.
- Order parts, pan stock, tools, materials, and equipment as required to perform assigned duties.
- Provides input of technical and operational knowledge in the assessment and repair/maintenance recommendations in support of the program assigned.
- Responsible for complying with all rules and regulations concerning health and safety, tool control, contracts, facilities and other pertinent coverages.
- Perform other duties as directed by supervision and management for the benefit of the company, program, or employee(s).

Basic Qualifications For ConsiderationThis position requires that you work out of San Antonio, Texas. Do you currently reside in the San Antonio area (where relocating would not be required) or are you willing to relocate at your own expense?
Are you willing to work 1st shift (primarily) and other shifts as required?
Do you have a minimum of 2 years experience as an aircraft electronics technician?
Typical Education/Experience
Must have knowledge of basic shop mathematics and practices, electrical/electronic theories and avionics systems sufficient to perform assigned duties. Work from information such as schematics, specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures. Must have basic computer skills, including aircraft-related systems and basic office software packages. Typically this position requires 2 to 4 years of experience in those duties as previously described for satisfactory performance.
Other Job related information
Preferred work experience with the C17; however, position may be located within any military or commercial program at the San Antonio site. Will be required to sit or stand for long periods of time. Proficient computer skills required and/or experience in I-GOLD and NCM.
