Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
CACI has a contingent position for an Electronics Technician 3 at the Port Hueneme CBC Base, CA. Work is to be performed at NSWC PHD, various Naval industrial areas, and any Naval port where US Navy ships/subs are located. This individual:
* Provides engineering, electrical and technical support for Interior Communications systems in US Naval ships. * Assists with complex Navy projects (i.e. SHIPALTS, ECPs, Shipchecks, CASREPS and AITs) relative to shipboard (surface & submarine) Interior Communications. * Repairs, modifies and tests electronic mechanical switches and systems associated with naval Internal Communications. * Duties may include shipboard installations, electronic repair, cable installation, cable termination, project status reporting, presentations and metrics, material purchasing, resource scheduling, asset staging, and Integrated Lifecycle Support (ILS). * Coordinates RMMCO and WAF processes, HAZMAT & OSHA training, security clearances, shipyard processes, technical assist visits, QA procedures, CASREP response and ship-checks. * Initiates tag out procedures, welding permits, RADCON training, monitoring INCO, PICO and SOVTs. * Determines electronic and electro-mechanical system design and instrumentation needs from engineering drawings, technical manuals, ship-checks, written and verbal instructions. * Designs, modifies, constructs and repairs complex electronic equipment associated with naval IC systems. * Modifies existing equipment for improved performance, capability upgrades and specialized application. * Troubleshoots electronic equipment, data collection devices and analytical instrumentation using modern electronic testing equipment. * Develops or evaluates test procedures, determines circuit requirements and develops diagnostics prototype modes. * Prepares cost estimates of proposed equipment needs. * Prepares reports, charts, and graphs for scientific and engineering personnel to use in making decision on design or experiment development. * Generates rough sketches, engineering drawings and redlines as needed. * Maintains records on equipment repairs, warranties and schematics. * Documents design and modification changes of equipment to conform to navy configuration control. * May provide leadership and supervision for lower level employees.
Required Qualifications:
Typically requires high school diploma or equivalent, (technical training equivalent to an associates degree preferred), electronics trade school or certification and five to six years of related electronics technician experience. This experience must include:
* In-depth knowledge of engineer drawings, documentation, schematics, configuration audits and test plans. * Ability to work with minimal supervision. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Access, Excel PowerPoint, and AutoCad). * Ability to travel to perform work in Navy ships or industrial facilities. * Good communication skills, both orally and written.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
* Four years of optical/electrical/mechanical (fiber or hardwire) experience installing, repairing or testing communication or data transfer equipment is highly desired. * Four years experience with fabrication, cabling, fiber optic (single and multi-mode), and manufacturing, repair, splicing, and testing electronic equipment for military applications is also desired. * Soldering and Fiber optic certification is a big plus. * Knowledge and experience with naval environment associated with security, industrial safety, quality control and military procedures is beneficial. * Ability to interact and communicate with naval officers, senior enlisted personnel, and other civilian staff members is desired.
