SOFTWARE SYSTEMS ENGINEER Job Category: R&D Engineering Job Function: Software & Firmware Development Description: Field Testing of customer and reference handsets. Also applications support of modem and MMI software for GSM/GPRS/EDGE and 3G Mobile Handsets. This Software Systems Engineering position will be responsible for assisting customers in all phases of mobile phone acceptance testing and will involve debugging and correcting customer issues with handset software (MMI and Layer 1), pre-testing and official testing of handsets to achieve operator acceptance, and field testing of handsets. Duties will also include managing relationships with customers at the technical/engineering level, as well as significant travel (up to 50%) to field test handsets and to resolve field issues. Experience with cellular telephone protocol stack software, C/C++ programming, and 16- and 32-bit microcontrollers is required. Experience with embedded systems development, IOT, handset qualification, mobile certification process (GCF or PTCRB), customer interface/support, and development of mobile handsets is desired. Requirement: The job requirements will include accessing and working with technology which is controlled for U.S. export control purposes. Any offer of employment shall be contingent on the applicants eligibility under U.S. law to access such technology. Such eligibility is obtained either by applicants status as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, if applicable, or otherwise by the Companys ability, in its discretion, to obtain and maintain any necessary export license covering the applicant. 1. 2-4 years experience with a BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. 2. Customer support experience preferred; good verbal and written communication skills in English. 3. Demonstrated experience, understanding of, and ability to code GSM L1 and/or MMI SW, and experience in operator qualification of handsets. 4. Good problem-solving, communication, and organization skills 5.
