Electronic Technician

Technician Job Description

Associate degree or equivalent from an electronic technical school and a minimum of three years of experience in a production or a product development environment, or continuing enrollment in an accredited four year engineering degree program majoring in a technical discipline.

Knowledge and/or experience in several of the following skill areas:

• Product verification and validation testing.


• Writing and oral communication skills as to participate in design reviews, technical presentations, technical procedure development, and other aspects of product design documentation and training.


• The basic operating principles behind analog and digital electronic circuits and microprocessors.


• Understanding of basic mechanical design principles.


• The repair, calibration, and testing of electronic circuits and products using tools, such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, volt meters, and data loggers.


• Use of personal computers hardware and related application software such as word processors, spreadsheets, and communications program.


• Operation, verification, and qualification of sensor technologies.


• Prototype and low volume production techniques.


• Ability to write software and/or design electronic circuits.

Availability for occasional overnight travel.

Ability to operate hand and power tools.

Ability to lift fifty pounds.

Job Description: 

• Build prototype electrical and mechanical assemblies.


• Perform product electrical and mechanical testing.


• Prepare and review product-related documentation.


• Prepare and review test and manufacturing procedures.


• Communicate with internal departments, customers, and vendors in matters related to product design and development.


• Maintain test equipment and fixtures.

Perform additional duties as directed.
