Title: Electro-Mechanical Packaging Engineer Location: UT, Salt Lake City Req Number: itti-00018896 Position Description: This position is responsible for concept development, definition and optimization of Electro-Mechanical Packaging for new equipment designs or upgrades to existing designs to improve manufacturability and to meet contractual design constraints. Also responsible for validating (checking) all drawings that are prepared by design and drafting. This validation process is to check the drawings for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company and/or customer standards. 1. Work with Engineering and Quality functions to develop and define electro/mechanical designs that meet project requirements at the commencement of the design process. 2. Communicate packaging constraints to engineering and quality functions. 3. Validate all dimensions on detailed drawings and that detailed parts will support the defined electro-mechanical design requirements. 4. Validate that assembly drawings satisfy the defined electro-mechanical design and include all information required to manufacture the assembly and that bill of material items have correct quantity and part numbers. 5. Enforce department drafting standards. 6. Strong knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 (Geometric Tolerancing) and where and how to use it. 7. A central source of information for the design and drafting group. 8. Work closely with development engineering personeel to formulate electro-mechanical packaging concepts that meet program requirements for size, weight, environmental performance, reliability, manufacturability, and maintainability. Review all new or legacy drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness, insure the CAD data is stored and that the drawings are issued into document control. Experience Requirements: Minimum: Associates degree in design/drafting, and five years of related work experience. A BS degree in a related engineering discipline and at least three years of work experience is preferred. Proven experience with Electro-Mechanical packaging that includes stress and thermal management is highly desirable. Two years experience in performing checking function. Strong working knowledge of Solidworks. 1. Capable of operating in a computer intense environment, which requires hand-eye dexterity and good and-eye coordination. 2. Successful candidate should work well in a team environment. 3. Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a US Government Security clearance. 4. Salaried position requires occasional extended work hours to complete assigned tasks while meeting critical program schedules.
