Electrical Engineer Job Description:
Pratt & Whitney Power Systems, A world leader in industrial gas turbine power systems, located in East Hartford, CT is seeking an Associate Manufacturing Electrical Engineer.
General Purpose:
Provide engineering design, product testing plans, installation instruction, commissioning procedures, and product validation for electrical systems to support manufacturing, commissioning, and operation of power generation systems. Responsibilities would include equipment protection, process control, revenue metering, SCADA interface, and power distribution.
The responsible engineer would be required to apply international and national codes and standards required to install generation equipment in global markets. The candidate would be responsible for the generation of system one line diagrams, system outlines, and assembly definition. The candidate would then be required to create component specifications and Bills of Material to facilitate product procurement. The completion of the tasks requires the programming and set up of equipment, combined with commissioning and validation support.
The candidate needs to have the ability to apply component models, and power system models to support control operation and protection of systems. Component models of motors and generators are required for the application of starting running, and protection. Available tools are MATLAB.
Duties and responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions
1. Develop equipment specification, and component part specifications, and populate Bills of Material using configuration control principles.
2. Integrate new components and systems into existing product families, while maintaining compliance with international and national standards.
3. Provide technical leadership for the testing and validation of new products and systems to the manufacturing organizations and groups.
4. Application of ACE tools to drive engineering and manufacturing issues to resolution, such as Relentless Root Cause Analysis (RRCA), and Define Investigate Verify Ensure (DIVE).
5. Provide direct support to company goals of achieving ACE gold status.
6. Adhere to company safety and environmental standards.
7. Some national and international travel is required.
