Electrical Design and Analysis Engineer 1\2
Entry-level position in The Boeing Company's Satellite Development Center for electrical engineers whose main technical interests are related to analog electronics, power, and power conditioning electronics design or digital circuit design. Engineering activities include design, testing, analyzing & troubleshooting of analog and digital circuits, microcircuits, devices, and subsystems. Other duties include verification of circuit performance, documentation, and resolution of performance anomalies. The candidate should have some hands-on experience in testing, troubleshooting, and evaluating electronic circuits, as well as familiarity with commonly used test equipment. Other duties may include definition of requirements and interfaces, requirements allocation and flow down, circuit design, modeling and analysis, prototype build/testing, process documentation, and test plan development. Academic and/or coop/intern experience should include exposure to one or more of the following areas: digital or analog circuit design and theory, power conditioning electronics, control system design and theory, microcircuit/ASIC/FPGA design and/or satellite communications systems principles. Entry-level engineers work under supervision and mentoring by more experienced engineers in a team-oriented environment.
Competencies
General• Communication
Makes an effort to clarify purpose and importance; stresses major points; follows a logical sequence. Tries to keep the audience engaged through use of techniques such as analogies, illustrations, humor, an appealing style, body language, and voice inflection. With guidance from others frames messages in line with audience experience, background, and expectations; tries to use terms, examples, and analogies that are meaningful to the audience. Occasionally seeks input from audience; checks understanding; tries to present message in different ways to enhance understanding. Uses syntax, pace, volume, diction, and mechanics appropriate to the media being used. Interprets messages from others and responds appropriately; at times requires guidance from others on how to respond.
• Managing Work
Has a general sense of more critical and less critical activities and tasks within own work group; adjusts priorities when appropriate. Tries to ensure that required equipment and/or materials are in appropriate locations so that own and others' work can be done effectively. Allocates own time to complete work; tries to coordinate own and others' schedules to avoid conflicts. Has a general understanding of available resources (individuals, processes, departments, and tools) to complete work efficiently. Generally uses time effectively and usually prevents irrelevant issues or distractions from interfering with work completion.
Technical• Analog Circuit Design
Basic - Basic knowledge of and ability to assist with analog circuit design principles (e.g., frequency, voltage, thermal, bandwidth, mismatch) to design, simulate and layout circuit boards.
Preferred - General knowledge of and limited ability to develop analog circuit design principles (e.g., frequency, voltage, thermal, bandwidth, mismatch) to design, simulate and layout circuit boards.
• Analyze & Interpret Engr Data
Basic - Basic ability to analyze and interpret company products (e.g. analyzing GSE drawings). Knowledge acquired through on the job training.
Preferred - General ability to analyze and interpret company products (e.g., rewriting engine ground handling document section). Some ability to apply that knowledge to less complex tasks. Knowledge acquired through on the job training.
• Engineering Analysis
Basic - Not Available
Preferred - General knowledge of engineering analysis (e.g. mechanical, electrical, avionics, design, circuit, systems, stress, structural, durability).
