The Thomson Aerospace and Defense facility designs and manufactures critical systems and components for commercial and military aircraft. The product range includes ball screws, mechanical sub-systems and electro-mechanical actuators for aircraft brake control systems, primary and secondary flight controls, missiles control actuation systems, smart munitions, naval systems and land vehicle systems. POSITION SUMMARY: The EHS Technician will have a leadership role in the application of all health and safety regulations, requirements and laws. He or She will have responsibility for delivering strategic goals in the areas of improvements and compliance. He or She will also assist with environmental compliance. This position reports directly to the EHS and Facilities Manager. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Along with those identified below, other duties may be assigned. * Comply with environmental, health and safety laws and regulations * OSHA recordkeeping * Track Hazardous Air Pollutants, Volatile Organic Compounds and Toxic Release Inventory * Manage disposal of hazardous, non hazardous and universal wastes * Direct Hazmat team * Accident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective actions * Perform required safety training including, but not limited to, fork truck, lock out/tag out, confined space, etc. * Manage, update and review EHS policies and procedures as needed * Update and maintain Material Safety Data Sheets * Lead internal safety committee * Conduct regular environmental, health and safety audits throughout the facility * Work a flexible schedule, be available for emergencies including nights and weekends * Travel as necessary * Work with all levels of internal personnel to achieve goals * Abide by the collective bargaining agreement EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Minimum 3 years experience in a safety role * Proficient in current OSHA Industry Standards * Minimum 3 years experience working in a manufacturing/machining environment * Ability to wear respirator * Excellent communication and presentation skills * Self-motivated team player * Hands on approach, willing to "roll up the sleeves" * Demonstrated leadership ability * BS degree preferred * Recent attendance at OSHA 30-hour training preferred * EPA standards knowledge preferred * Current Hazwoper preferredJob LocationSaginaw , MI USPosition TypeFull-Time/Regular
