Program Lead Engineer will maintain progress and manage resources for the key NPI project (development engineering program plan) through demonstrating leadership; communicating project plans, specifications, milestones and manage people resources on the team. This position will identify and solve problems, maintain track of budget and timelines, drive toward objectives, and have the ability to identify gaps, working with the engineering leads, for the development program. Essential Responsibilities: - Coordinate the resources within the development engineering group and manage the New Product Introduction (NPI) lead engineers who co-ordinate the various NPI Programs. - Help ensure timely and efficient completion of detailed engineering projects to achieve cost and Product line specification objectives. - Manage Drilling project leaders with technical responsibility for design planning and organizing technical projects or phases of projects involving design and the development of new or improved products and/or processes - Prepares project plans and related schedules by studying project plans and specifications; calculating time requirements; and sequencing project elements - Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems - Works with the NPI program leads to prepare project status reports / milestones for review - Controls project plans by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommends actions to achieve performance to committed milestones - Monitors project costs - Schedule internal design milestones and reviews, track budget, timelines, resources within the various NPI programs - Organize and attend regular meetings with the various engineering teams, product line managers and production representatives - Work with Product Line Leaders to define, document, and maintain, specifications and CTQ’s, to keep them in line with business goals - Support introduction of new guidelines, standards, processes to the engineering teams - Oversight and mentoring of junior project leads, various engineer leads and technical resources
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related technical education - Minimum of 7 years of related experience in a multi discipline, multi-project management role designing and developing LWD / MWD downhole tools from initial concept through to production Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen. Desired Characteristics: - Experienced in the design and operation of mechanical & electromechanical tools and components used in downhole oilfield equipment and applications - Experience with the use of materials, suitable for harsh downhole environment - Knowledge of materials and corrosion mechanisms - Must have experience with structured problem solving methods - Able to create and support detail design from layout drawings or from project specification - Familiarity with project financial and labor tracking methods, Proficiency with Microsoft Project or equivalent project management package - Must have experience in forecasting and estimating effort and time to delivery as well as materials and outside spends for proposed engineering projects / tasks - Experience using design drafting software such as CAD or SolidWorks preferred - Ability to analyze failures and troubleshoot - Knowledge of FEA based stress analysis preferred - Familiar with Design-to-Cost, Design-for-Manufacturing & Assembly, and other cost reduction methodologies - Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills - Must be a team player with strong interpersonal and leadership skills - Experience with and willing to work with teams of Manufacturing / Quality Engineers and Production technicians, and outside consultants / contractors - Able to review and approve engineering documents, drawings, procedures and specifications - Familiar with testing and troubleshooting complex mechanical and electromechanical components - Able to lead a team of designers and support engineers in the design and development process and able to manage the technical portion of a product development program
