Job Summary:
ATK Military Systems ( in Dayton, OH is seeking an Engineering Professional for the position Director of Engineering. This individual will lead an engineering department consisting of 25 employees (5 direct reports) spanning electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, test, and material engineering disciplines in the design and test of aerospace antennas, radomes, and composite structures. The engineering department performs analytical paper studies, product development, qualification, and production. Job duties include building and retaining productive engineering teams through strong recruiting, mentoring, and career management, collaboration, marketing, process standardization, department budgeting, and IRAD management. Review and approve proposed engineering designs and subsequent product and process enhancements or changes.
Qualifications:
* MS Engineering (Electrical – preferred, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing); Ph.D. preferred
* 10+ years aerospace industry experience, including lead engineer experience; prefer experience in RF Engineering
* 5+ years engineering management experience, including staff recruiting & development
* Desire candidates with relevant experience in design, fabrication, and test of antennas, radomes, and composite structures.
* Proven organizational, leadership, and problem solving skills
* Experience managing department and lab budgets
* Must have proven multitasking skills and can work under pressure
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Desire and willingness to lead marketing / proposal capture opportunities
* Good Interpersonal Skills with ability to lead and collaborate across teams
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Word, PowerPoint, Project)
* Familiarity with Data Management processes & tools
* Familiarity with Quality Standards such as AS-9100 and CMMI
* Ability to obtain Secret or Top Secret Clearance required; active clearance preferred.
