Minimum Requirements: Qualifications: Education: . Associates degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience is required.
General requirements . Responsible for performing plant support of operating nuclear power plants including but not limited to conducting site walkdowns for assessment of existing systems and equipment conditions, designing and implementing modifications, performing engineering studies and reports, cost estimates and schedules, and proposal development. . Capability to work across discipline boundaries and support all on site disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Structural and I&C) with basic CAD support and drawing / document identification and gathering to support design development . Candidates must be able to obtain full access to a Nuclear Power Plant.
Experience: . 6+ years of experience. . Capability with 2D and/or 3D plant design is strongly recommended. . Due to the nature of the work, all applicants must be US Citizens or Permanent Residents. . Experience in development of design modification packages / design changes for new design and changes to existing plant equipment.
Preferred: . Experience working in a commercial nuclear power plant setting.
Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. Job Description: URS Corporation is seeking a Designer III to work at Harris Nuclear Plant outside of Raleigh, North Carolina. This position is expected to begin in early 2012.
The position will support a multi-discipline team located at the nuclear plant site and will be responsible for performing engineering support services applicable to operating nuclear power plants. The initial assignment is expected to be 6-12 months in duration, with the potential for assignments to be extended to up to three years or longer. The selected candidates will receive per diem in accordance with URS' Domestic Temporary Assignment Allowance policy.
