An excellent entry level career opportunity is currently available for a CAD Designer (Drafter) within the Mechanical & Materials Engineering Skill Center of UOP's Process Technology & Equipment (PTE) business located in Des Plaines, IL.

The primary responsibilities of this position are to provide drawings for P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), PFD (Process Flow Diagrams), and revision to existing drawings using MicroStation CADD Software. This position is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated person to grow within our project oriented department. As part of a multi-functional design team, the incumbent must produce work that is consistent, correct, timely, and complete and must exhibit excellent teamwork skills. Skills in identifying, defining, and resolving design problems are important, as well as the ability to perform multiple tasks.

Position responsibilities:
* General drafting tasks assigned by the Drafting Coordinator per the agreed schedule.
* Drafting Coordinator informed of progress on assigned tasks. Bring any schedule delays to the Drafting Coordinator as early as possible - no surprises.
* Utilize current drafting practices and tools for completion of assigned drafting tasks.
* Apply practical procedures and develops specialized techniques.
* Knowledge of UOP and customer practices/standards to ensure their consistent application throughout a unit or complex.
* Knowledge of UOP Basic Engineering Design Questionnaire and related UOP Standard Specifications and Drawings in preparing drawings.
* Apply practical design procedures.
* Review engineering design data for completeness and consistency with UOP practice prior to commencing drawing preparation.

Basic Candidate Qualifications:
* Associates of Applied Science Degree in Computer-Aided Drafting Technology or current enrollment in such an accredited Computer-Aided Drafting Technology degree program is required, or non degree candidates must have a minimum of 2 plus years CAD design experience utilizing AutoCAD or MicroStation.
* Ability to travel 10% both domestic and internationally.
