* Invent solutions to design challenges within identified design constraints. * Create 3D design models for detail parts, assemblies, tooling and fixtures in Unigraphics CAD system. * Create 2D layouts in Unigraphics. * Create engineering drawings from both 2D and 3D CAD data for detail parts, assemblies and interior aircraft layouts. * Create internal engineering change documents. * Be able to verify accuracy of Engineering Change Notices, service documents, drawings and other engineering data prior to release. * Ensure adherence to company standards, specifications, processes, procedures and policies. * Provide on site field support or evaluation of seats in-service. * Provide testing support, test data sheet creation, support in test data acquisition. * Provide manufacturing shop support including FAI, MRB, NCR, OSP, “D” stamp and related activities. * Develop customer supporting data requirements to define information required by us to support customer requests. This will include defining data to support proposals, quotes, projects, service documents and product design. * Assist with cost information including assessment of designs for cost and offering design solutions to reduce costs. * Assist with, or obtain, quotes for prototype or sample parts, and tools. * May be directly involved with prototype or sample part creation and modification. * Maintain proficiency with all engineering data systems including databases, MRP, CAD or other computer systems required in day-to-day support of engineering activities. * Perform standard engineering assignments usually representing a significant portion of a larger project. * Select engineering techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations. * Participate as a team member in a specific phase of a broad engineering assignment. * Direct preparation of appropriate documentation for assigned projects. * Provide technical leadership to a small group of temporarily assigned engineers and technicians. * Ensure successful completion of the assigned project phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints. * Participate in defining engineering approaches, and in planning and scheduling work. * Perform other related duties as required. * Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. * Exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Job Requirements : A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from four-year college or university; and minimum three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required to be considered as a potential candidate for the Design Engineer position.
Additionally, potential candidates must: * Have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. * Express competence in writing reports, business correspondences, and procedure manuals. * Possess the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, associates, clients, customers, and the general public. * Have knowledge of advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations; and the ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. * Be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. * Possess the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
