Posted Position Title Design Engineer - Landing Gear and Actuation Career Level Experienced Function Engineering/Technology Function Segment Product Design and Development Location United States U.S. State, China or Canada Provinces California City Duarte Postal Code 91010-2859 Relocation Assistance Yes Role Summary/Purpose As a Design Engineer you will be responsible for developing 3D/2D designs for both detail parts as well as DMUs and assemblies from concept, preliminary and then detailed design through the Design Review process, working in conjunction with other technical departments, manufacturing, suppliers and, the customer. You will utilize your experience and expertise to solve problems, and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to meet short-term and long-term business goals. Essential Responsibilities * Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to industry standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
* Manage requirements, quality, timescale and cost for assigned project
* Provide design support to Sustaining, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain
* Work as part of a team, often deployed to multidisciplinary projects, ensuring design integrity and fidelity of Landing Gear and Actuation products
* Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
* Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
* Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
* Participate on concurrent engineering teams assigned to Qualifications/Requirements * Bachelor's Degree of Science in Mechanical Engineering
* Minimum of 5 years aircraft structural design experience and fundamentals, in metallic and / or composite structures
* Minimum of 1 year experience with Siemens NX is required, or with similar 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) platforms such as Dassault Systemes SolidWorks, Wildfire Pro-E, CATIA V5 Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen. Desired Characteristics * Hydraulic actuation experience
* Experience with TeamCenter Data Management System, or similar Piecewise Linear Model (PLM) Systems such as PDM, SmarTeam, Windchill
* Knowledge of Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
* An understanding of aerospace processes and methods is highly advantageous
* Self-motivated, ability to work from own initiative with minimal supervision
* Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools, and systems
* Solid oral and written communication skills
