Design Engineer, Airframe (All Levels)'; PiperAircraft, Inc. is seeking Airframe Design Engineers (all levels) at their location inVero Beach,Florida. SUMMARY: Prepare drawings, Engineering Orders (EO), and specifications in a standardized format for use by Manufacturing in reproducing a product which will be in conformance to approved Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) type data, adhering to Records and Release procedures. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Produce conceptual layouts, manual installation, and assembly and detail drawings. Utilize Unigraphics computer aided design (CAD) to generate drawings when necessary. When appropriate, utilize Piper manufactured parts, purchased parts and raw materials from standard stock in new design or product improvement. Add new inventory items notice (NIIN) when required. Determine process requirements from military, industry and/or Company specifications and standards. Compose Engineering Orders (EO) to correct drafting/design errors, revise design, or incorporate changes/modifications to existing three dimensional models and drawings utilizing Unigraphics. Design new airframe components, which includes preliminary design concept, creation of engineering drawing, research/investigation, create three dimensional model utilizing Unigraphics. Update Baan computer system with revisions. Manual drawing maintenance is required periodically. Perform other related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Requires a Bachelors’ degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. Engineer (M3): Zero to three years general aviation related experience in airframe, mechanical drafting, or design. Engineer I (M4): Minimum three years general aviation related experience in airframe, mechanical drafting, or design. Engineering II (M5): Minimum five years general aviation related experience in airframe, mechanical drafting, or design. Senior Engineer (M6): Minimum seven years general aviation related experience in airframe, mechanical drafting, or design. All Levels: General knowledge of all phases of aircraft design, testing, approval, manufacturing, inspection and service; materials and material strengths, all manufacturing processes and techniques relative to fabrication and assembly; working knowledge of Unigraphics CAD; and familiarity with FAR 23 and certification are required to perform the duties of this position.
