Description:
Provides overall engineering and coordination support to assess proposed design changes related to the scope of proposed change, and assessment of the budget and interface impacts of the proposed design change in order to expedite Client approval. The position is an essential postion with responsiblity to monitor, track, and assess proposed design changes and will work closely with the Contracts and Project Controls Groups to fully monitor and assess the proposed design change. The Deputy Design Manager - Changes also participates in special meetings and other workshops and monitors risks/problems and helps develop options to resolve.
Key tasks and duties:
Performs engineering reviews of the proposed design changes prepared by others and prepares formal technical assessments including history, justification, recommendation and backup necessary.
Advises Infrastructure Design Manager and other members of the Design Management Group of potential impacts of proposed design changes inlcuding impacts if change not implemented.
Tracks design changes, maintains design change logs and provides input to the monthly Project Reports.
Interfaces and coordinates with the design consultant(s) when proposed design change documentations are not fully compliance in order to expedite the review and approal process.
Reviews and monitors design changes for compliance with specifications and approved design critera.
Works with the Construction Management Team to assess proposed field changes by performing an engineering assessment and coordinates the review with other project team members to faciliate a comprehensive analysis.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate under the direction of the Infrastructure Design Manager.
Qualifications
4-year degree in Engineering or related technical field, and at least 12 years of related work experience preferrably in large-scale development projects where general design services were performed. Incumbent must have a broad general technical and construction background to faciliate the design change assessments in a timely manner. Prior work experience in the Middle East preferred.
Proven ability to perform in a technical capacity, good written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are also required.
