Database Administrator - Nashville, TN Excellent opportunity for experienced software designer/developer and database ""guru"" to take on an extremely challenging position within a leading edge organization, one of the top-tier environments in the US. They are situated in beautiful, metropolitan, Nashville, TN, and offer many extras. This person will be working in a highly visible area, with a team of dedicated, highly technical and professional colleagues. In addition, this department is growing and they are looking for someone who could be a team/technical lead for this group. They ideally would like to find a SME (Subject Matter Expert) who can continue to work on a multitude of projects that use RDBMS (SQL Server) to manipulate data. Below is a partial listing of some of the duties, responsibilities and focus of this position: Develops and manages a Relational Database Management System, SQL Server, Oracle, DB2 and Data Warehouse. Provide effective leadership in managing a perioperative data warehouse used for large scale projects (terabytes of data). Consults with project teams defining technical requirements and service levels. Oversee, communicate, and ensure adherence to strategic and tactical efforts related to data warehouse design, software quality, methodologies and best practices. Install and deploy a database and data warehouse that is fully operational adhering to the requirements and standards. Develops, tests and maintains data warehouse tools and software ETL, metadata. Ensures ETL processes are consistent and adheres to established standards. Responsible for the technical design and development of software and tools supporting the data acquisition, transformation, loading, cleansing and validation process. Monitors the performance of the data load processes ensuring availability meets established service levels. Maintain the physical organization of database objects ensuring the database performs optimally. Creates user accounts, group profiles, and manage security access at the instance, schema, table and view level by providing group and individual account roles and other access methods as needed. Monitor and analyze system performance and capacity data identifying potential problems before they occur. Plan and coordinate technology changes with other departments. There are several team members who are in this area and who will be hopefully mentored and led by this person. They have a couple of analysts (data mgmt., data support and research). There is also an expectation that this person will be able to conduct data architect and data warehousing activities as necessary (cube designing, data mining, etc.).
