The Control & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) discipline within Pratt and Whitney Engineering is responsible for the development and certification of control and diagnostic systems, algorithms, and software that manage engine operations, enables gas turbine engine integration with the aircraft and provides diagnostic/prognostics for propulsion system management and maintenance capabilities.
The selected candidate is expected to provide leadership in all aspects of control and diagnostic system development, software verification and certification technologies by establishing strategic direction for safety critical software development and certification methodologies and plans for the discipline, track and communicate status on these plans, establish key external relationships, and recognize industry trends and competitive positions. The candidate will motivate and mentor key individuals to develop future leaders of the discipline.
The candidate should have hands-on experience in developing and certifying electronic control system and software for airworthiness in commercial and/or military aerospace applications.
Must be a US citizen or a permanent resident in the US.

Required Skills
Demonstrated ability to verify and certify complex control and diagnostic systems is a must.
Extensive knowledge and hands on experience in model based development is required.
Senior role in RTCA DO-178 committees and/or DER/DAA status is desirable.
Knowledge in software certification for airworthiness and exposure to ARP4754
Prior experience in leading certification efforts and certifying products with FAA is desired.
Knowledge of formal methods and model based certification is a plus.
