Requisition # E1879551 Job Title Consumer Product Hardware Development Engineer Post Date 5/11/2010 Division MediaFLO Technologies Job Area Engineering - Hardware Location California - San Diego Job Function Hardware Engineering lead role on one or more MediaFLO product developments. Activities will focus on board level digital/power/analog design, analysis, and test of MediaFLO receiver devices. Duties entail designing, analyzing, integrating, verifying, and maintaining digital hardware and circuit card assemblies. Platforms will incorporate high performance ARM processors, streaming video, battery charging and power conversion, low power consumption, USB OTG, and WLAN. Candidate must be able to quickly assimilate and refine existing product designs, apply integration and problem solving skills in the lab, read and write specifications and requirements, and actively contribute toward the evolution of the hardware platforms. Ensure the completeness of the hardware product requirements and that the hardware designs meet the requirements. Coordinate with support organizations (mechanical, antenna, RF, regulatory, EMI/EMC, CAD, manufacturing, etc.) for their input and guidance as required. Work with internal and external development teams to ensure that the appropriate levels of reviews and testing take place throughout the development phase. Drive the schedule for hardware development and test activities, resulting in on time production delivery of products. Contribute to new product concept evaluation and tradeoff analysis, including size, power, cost, schedule, complexity, etc. Skills/Experience Significant experience in all hardware development aspects of complex consumer hardware products involving radio receiver technology in the UHF, VHF, L bands. Hardware architecture and designs to include antenna performance, isolation, shielding, battery and power supply, and regulatory compliance. Experience with phone or consumer wireless device design as well as high density PWB/PCBs layout is a necessity. Electrical design, schematic entry, PWB layout guidance and review, design for testability and manufacturability, planning and execution of design verification test, factory test planning, and transition to production. Candidates should have a minimum of eight years of experience in designing consumer electronics, wireless, or low power platforms. Solid understanding of electrical engineering and circuit fundamentals (digital and analog) required. Additional skills should include: knowledge of transmission lines, cross talk, efficient low-power supply design, decoupling, and layout of high performance digital circuits; microprocessors, memories, batteries, voltage regulators, and other consumer electronics hardware. Strong lab skills a plus. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills a requirement. Responsibilities Drive products from initial concept through to medium/high volume production within cost and schedule constraints. Work with internal and external development partners to ensure that best design practices are followed and that products perform to expectations. Contribute to new product concept evaluation and tradeoff analysis, including size, power, cost, schedule, complexity, etc. Education Requirements BSEE or equivalent required. MSEE preferred.
