Serves on a full time basis as Structural Construction Inspector supporting the TSSC-III Program during the construction of a new Air Traffic Control Tower, Base Building and Parking Garage at McCarran Airport in Las Vegas , Nevada .
The ideal candidate will have 10 years of Structural Engineering experience and or construction inspection experience with an emphasis on structural steel and concrete. The candidate should also have a general knowledge of heavy commercial construction. The candidate will also be able to read and understand structural and civil design drawings and specifications.
Typical Assignments
Will be assigned to a project team of other disciplined engineers and technical staff in support of the construction of the new Air Traffic Control Tower, Base Building and Parking Structure at the McCarran Airport .
Review / interpret engineering drawings, specifications and other design documents; understand project design basis and contractual requirements.
Responsibilities include oversight of the owner's construction effort, including the technical liaison between the owner, general contractor, user, and related agencies. Oversight involves Quality Assurance over the physical work installed; reviews of codes, submittals; interpretation of contract documents and the contractor's correspondence/technical/financial/schedule submissions, identifying potential progress delays, job files, and making recommendations to the client.
Establishes and maintains a close working relationship with project design team, client representatives, and contractors.
Participates in safety/incident investigations and prepares appropriate documentation.
May act in an advisory capacity to client/owner personnel on engineering related matters.
Proactively identify potential problems in the field; develop alternatives; arrive at optimum solution, means to mitigate problems.
Maintain Daily/Weekly activity logs.
Attend and participate in ""on-site"" 2-week look-ahead and safety meetings throughout project.
Qualifications: EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
A 4-year degree in Structural Engineering is preferred but not required. A minimum of 10 years of related work experience. FAA construction background and or experience preferred.
Must have experience and knowledge of construction methods, activities and applicable codes.
Proficiency in utilizing PC software packages typically associated with engineering, basic word processing and use of email is required. Experience with Microsoft Sharepoint software preferred.
Must be able to meet customer security requirements (moderate to high risk). A background check by federal authorities will be performed.
