GA’s Electromagnetic Systems (EMS) Division focuses on military and commercial applications of advanced electromagnetic technologies, including power generation and distribution, magnetic levitation, and systems design and engineering. The EMS Division supports government customers, which include the Department of Defense, Department of Energy and the Department of Transportation.
The position of Configuration Management Specialist will coordinate and administer assigned configuration management activities relative to identification, control, and accounting for systems and/or equipment in accordance with contractual requirements.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform configuration management activities related to identification, control and accounting for engineering documents for systems and/or equipment in accordance with contractual and ISO 9000-2001 procedures
-Provide liaison between users of business computer systems and the information systems technical staff to interpret needs in specification for computer/system implementation, plan and coordinate processing schedules, develop and modify output reports, establish priorities for task completion, and define/modify/update interfaces between other internal and external computer systems
-Support government agency and commercial R&D, and production programs
-Identify, control and accounting of hardware and software configurations
-Develop and document product structures
-Implement division document release and change processes
-Review and analyze engineering changes and coordination with engineering
-Support program change control board and task implementation (change effectivity definition) processes
-Support the collection and management of the as-built product baseline documentation
-Support internal and customer configuration audits
-Coordination of program interface with customer configuration audits
-Support of the development and maintenance of division and corporate CM processes
-May be temporarily assigned to specific programs
-Work in an Integrated Data Environment (IDE), and support Data Architecture and System Enhancement Requirements Definition
-Observe all laws and regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the company
-Maintain a productive and safe working environment in accordance with established operating procedures and practices
-Perform other duties as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & DUTIES:
-Typically requires a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Engineering or a related discipline and six or more years of progressive professional government or commercial configuration management experience
-Equivalent professional government or commercial configuration management experience may be substituted in lieu of education
-Must have a complete understanding of configuration management concepts and principles, and related governmental rules and regulations; and, experience demonstrating a complete application of those principles, concepts, and practices
-Possess working knowledge of CM tools (such as Windchill)
-Have an understanding of MIL-STD-973 and MIL-Handbook-61A
-Must possess excellent interpersonal, organizational and computer skills
-Must possess the ability to work independently or in a team environment
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
-Knowledge of CM during production and CM interface with MRP systems (SAP preferred)
-Object Orient Design and Data Architecture experience
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (i.e. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access)
-Must have good communication, computer, documentation, presentation and interpersonal skills
-Must be proactive, able to take the lead and willing to be a team player
