The General Atomics (GA) group of companies is a world renowned leader in developing high-technology systems ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to electromagnetic systems; remotely operated surveillance aircraft; airborne sensors; advanced electronic, wireless, and laser technologies; and biofuels.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Configuration Controller within our Configuration Management Team. This person will be responsible for coordinating and administering configuration management activities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under direct supervision the position is responsible for coordinating & administering complex Configuration Management (CM) activities:

-Applies CM release function: Releases, updates, archives and distributes the latest revisions of engineering designs for multiple projects ensuring accurate, clear, concise and valid documentation and documentation records

-Compiles, reviews and analyzes configuration management activities related to identification, control, and accounts for engineering documents for systems and/or equipment in accordance with contractual requirements usage

-Reviews and analyzes engineering change management and coordinates changes with engineering, quality assurance, and manufacturing to ensure compliance with customer requirements and Company policy

-Reviews and analyzes product structure concurrently with release and change management data

-Records and maintains administrative data that measures the activities and statuses of work

-Coordinates and applies MS Word and Excel formatting to engineering documents per project requirements

-Reviews sales order notifications to assure the accuracy of current contractual reporting requirements

-Maintains the retention status for the storage, retention, and destruction of company records, processing, filming, storing, and retrieving current and historical design, technical, and programmatic documents according to project, customer, and company practices and requirements

-Assists the document center in the processing of technical documents when needed

-Reviews, generates, and updates internal procedures to reflect current working guidelines

-Observes all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company

-Works in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices. Monitor all operations for regulatory and safety compliance

-Performs other duties as assigned or required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

-Typically requires an Associate’s degree or equivalent and two or more years progressively more complex experience in configuration control. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education

-Must be able to perform a variety of tasks and demonstrate a basic understanding of configuration control principles, theories and concepts

Must possess:
-The ability to coordinate work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates

-The ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment

-Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics and technical orders

-Interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and report finding

-Basic computer skills

-The ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Experience with Winchill® and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) electronic data management system a plus.
