Location: Raleigh, NC Contract: 10 weeks plus Hours: 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Kelly IT Resources has an immediate contract opportunity in Raleigh, NC for a Computer Operator. IBM ZOS mainframe and peripherals and completes specific related tasks.
Initializes system; halts system without data loss; prepares and controls all output / input media mount tapes, and replenishes printer ribbon and paper as needed.
Create backup computer tapes for off-site security storage.
Process all scheduled production runs and application programmer test runs.
Process special production runs; adjusts job run schedule to accommodate special run, priority changes, and re-schedules jobs that ran unsuccessfully during another shift.
Verifies all completed production runs for accuracy, readability and completeness.
Restore program files and data after loss due to mistakes, job aborts, or interruptions; assists programmers in identifying functional difficulties in the computer system.
Maintain the Control-M job Scheduler.
Monitors operational status of systems and when required monitors telecommunication lines.
Notifies users and other appropriate personnel of system or run problem and consequent status; seeks assistance for problem resolution and recovery or restart as the situation warrants.
Maintain job run log, incident log, and record of reports run; performs tape Control and tape library functions, distributes printouts.
Help test or make small changes to programs, under the guidance and direct supervision of the responsible applications or system programmer.
