General Dynamics is actively seeking a Communications Technician to support a large Navy contract at Little Creek, VA. The Communications Technician is responsible for designing, purchasing, installing, testing, and training operators and technicians on Navy Communications Systems built to interface with existing systems. Must be knowledgeable in all Navy Communications Systems, their interconnections, data paths, as well as satellite and land line high speed terminations. Must be familiar with the processes and procedures to request new high speed data circuits.
1. Experience installing, configuring, and testing T1, E1, T3/DS3 communications equipment. 2. Experience constructing serial, Ethernet, and Fiber Optic cables using industry standards such as RS-232, RS-530, EIA-568A/B, etc. 3. Experience installing, configuring, and testing WAN/LAN Networks. 4. Experience with ATM and MSPP Network configuration and fault analysis. 5. Experience configuring and operating INE devices, such as KG-250 and KG-175D. 6. MS Exchange Server/Outlook configuration and sysadmin experience. 7. Certifications such as CCNA, CCDA, Network +, Security +, BiCSi, etc. is a plus. 8. Prior experience with any of the following equipment/systems: ADNS, NREMS, GCCS-M/J, JCDX, WSC-3 or VICS, CFn a plus.
Associates Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
8-10 years experience with Navy communications systems and equipment.
The ideal candidate will have the experience of a retired Chief, Senior Chief, or Master Chief Radioman/Information Systems Technician, hold a final Top Secret clearance, and show the initiative to learn and grow as Navy Communications evolves and modernizes. Active Secret clearance is acceptable upon hire.
