Location and team
Macro Corporation is seeking an experienced professional to provide our clients with consulting services related to communications technology integration within the transit and public safety environments. This full-time position is located in Macro's Chalfont, PA office.
Tasks May Include
The successful candidate will analyze current wireless and wireline communications systems and operations methodologies, assess user needs, model information flow(s), develop alternative conceptual system designs, identify costs, perform trade-off analyses, prepare procurement specifications and supporting RFP material, evaluate vendor solutions, manage implementations, validate testing results, and orchestrate system and user migration.
Projects require in-depth, technical/engineering experience with multiple communications technologies (land mobile radio, microwave, fiber optic, telephony, etc.) to enable the computer-based monitoring and control systems to be fully integrated with field equipment. Wireless communication projects require experience with:
• Conventional and trunked voice and data radio systems • Standards and architectures for interoperable solutions • RF propagation engineering for both analog and digital communications systems • Point-to-point and point-to-multipoint microwave radio systems • Private, cellular/PCS, and commercial wide-area mobile data systems or services • FCC regulatory issues associated with private voice and data systems • Termination facilities; and ancillary systems • Support systems such as back-up generators, battery and UPS backup power communication equipment shelters, and tower structures • Computer based engineering tools and applications
What we're asking
Candidate shall have demonstrable experience in a mix of the technologies stated above and have: • A Bachelor's degree in engineering, or equivalent • 5+ years leadership responsibility pertaining to operations and wireless voice and data systems in transit, law enforcement and other public safety organizations or with a system supplier • Proficiency in formalized project management methods including planning and scheduling; cost control; risk and change order management; scope, schedule, budget, and quality management; project staffing; and status reporting • Excellent oral, writing, presentation and interpersonal skills • A willingness to travel about 20-25% of the time A PE license and prior consulting experience are strongly preferred.
This is a U.S.-based position; applicants must be fully authorized to work in the U.S and be able to successfully pass a background investigation.
