Job Title: Principal Systems Engineer Job Department / Program: Advanced Systems Job Location: Palo Alto, California
Team/Department: Advanced Programs and Systems - Principal systems engineer for R&D, proposals, studies and marketing support primarily in the area of communications payloads and systems for satellites.
Role/Job Responsibilities:
.Responsible for leading systems engineering efforts on the communications system of a satellite including payload, command, telemetry and ground interfaces
.Define and develop requirements, specifications and architectures including detailed performance and functional analyses and trade studies based on customer and marketing organization inputs
.Provide technical interface with customers, external agencies and other contractors including sales/marketing discussions and presentations
.Lead role in proposal development with responsibility for producing major technical proposals
.Perform and lead research and design activities as principal investigator
.Flexible and able to work in situations that are ambiguous or uncertain
.Self-guided and able to work with minimal or no supervision
.Team-player with ability to lead others
.Attentive to details as well as big picture view
Job Qualifications:
.Understanding of communications systems (digital and analog), RF and microwave theory and devices/components, antennas and propagation
.Proficient with MS Office applications; Excellent verbal and written communications skills including presentations to groups
.Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
.CAD (SystemsView, MATLAB, SPW) experience and knowledge a plus; software development; formal systems engineering training
.BS+12 years, MS+10 years, Ph.D. +8 years work experience. Degree preferably in EE and experience in satellite-related industry
