Job Description: The Shaw Group provides premier engineering, design, construction, and maintenance services to government and private-sector clients in a wide array of industries, including the energy, environmental, infrastructure, and emergency response markets.
Summary: Civil Designer required to produce producing sketches, 3D models, 2D CAD drawings, as-built drawings, and for estimating staffing requirements and work-hour estimates.
Responsibilities: Execution of project work; coaches designers preparing systems sketches and drawings; collects document specifications based on appropriate engineering criteria and technical manuals. Work conforms to applicable codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures. Ensures work fulfills client's needs for staffing requirements, work-hours estimates and 3D modeling and 2D CAD drawings.
Qualifications/Competencies/Experience: College or Technical School Degree in Civil design /drafting Has and 4-8 years relevant experience in Civil design including site planning, grading, roadways, railroads, drainage, and underground utilities Has developed specialized knowledge/skills in own area Completes work assignments independently or with minimal supervision/guidance Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience May coordinate activities of others. Understands customer needs and identifies solutions to nonstandard requests Solves moderately complex problems. Manages own time to meet objectives.
